I have a fear of cantilevered stairs-- as in, I cannot climb normal spiral staircases that are more than, say, two stories -- and the stairs up the insides of towers or domes are simply impossible. I get a horrible shrinking and expanding at the same time sort of feeling, and I have to crouch down on the step or run down very lightly like a cat to the bottom before I feel safe. See-through steps that are cantilevered are the worst. Once I froze on something like the thirty-fifth step up the inside of a huge tower -- I couldn't go up or down. And then this woman came up behind me and froze on the exact same step.

My phobia is broken glass. Not the kind when you drop a glass on the floor and it shatters everywhere, but the kind when a stone or something is thrown at a window pane and it shatters the glass and makes it look all splintery. I'm shuddering just thinking about it. I think it might have stemmed from when i threw stones at a window one time and then the window shattered and as i got closer to it, i could hear the glass making this sort of crunching sound before it all fell out in little bits. Ugh, i feel all disgusting now

When I ride my bike and I take one hand off the handlebar to wave to a friend or something, I must then, after replacing the hand, briefly take the other hand off the handlebar, and then very briefly take both hands off. If I do not do this I feel extremely unbalanced and anxious.

I have a phobia of acute angles in triangles. I think it's just the visualisation of being trapped in an acute angle of a triangle as it is getting smaller. I'm not claustrophobic, i just find triangles a little unpredictable. I've heard there's a shopping centre in Kent that is shaped like a triangle and just thinking about it makes me hyperventillate. I just can't think of anything good when there are triangles around.

When I was about 4 or 5, I saw a commercial on TV for a horror movie about a man that had no face (just a blank patch of skin with no eyes mouth or nose, etc.) and I was horrified. I had a nightmare for almost a week that the man from the movie was coming to kill me. I would hide in my home before going out into the town to hide. He wore a long cloak and seemed to float above the ground and carried a scythe. Some people in town had killed themselves to escape his clutches. He killed a bus full of my friends and family by making it drive off a cliff. Right before he would kill me, as he loomed overhead, I would wake up. I have had this nightmare every 6 months or so since I was little.

I'm really scared of boats. I get seasick but it's not just motion sickness. I'm actually feeling really anxious about the boat sinking! For that reason I call my condition 'emotion sickness' and try very hard to rationalise it away.

I have an extreme phobia of ET, the alien guy from the movie ET, directed by Steven Spielberg. ET is the scariest thing I have ever seen. The little guy just freaks me out.

Whenever I shut off a light in my house, be it a hallway or a room, I have to run into the next lit area. I'm not afraid of the dark, as this only affects me in my home. I've been doing this for over 20 years.
