Fear of crowds

Crowds! Ever since I was small, and everyone had to change their shoes in the cloak rooms before going into lessons, I would have to wait behind, and the same when I was doing a dance show and everyone was packed into a tiny room at the back for the finale. Couldn't do it. I just feel trapped, like i can't get out and i'm going to be smothered. It's such a frustrating thing to live with, because there are panic attacks and I can't breathe and I shake! I once had a panic attack in a fire drill when everyone was collecting at the fire point!

I have a phobia of crowds (Demophobia). I cannot stand being in a crowd, especially in a strange place. When I am in a crowd, my body shuts down and I stop breathing. No matter how quiet, I always hear loud voices. I think of rapist and murderers. The worst part is being in a crowd with friends/family. I am afraid of loosing one. When I am in a crowd with friends or family, I have to be in the back of the group, so I can keep an eye on who is where.
