General insanely abstract phobias
I have a few things I'm phobic of, and I don't quite understand why.
I mostly have a towel phobia. I cannot stand the feeling of them. Just the thought of touching one (especially right out of the dryer) makes my spine tingle, and makes me shudder. And after I wash my hands, and they are real dry, I can't touch denim or paper. And it sounds groos, but after you wash your hands, your hands will develop a film, you know, like, and oily film? and that's what keeps EVERYTHING from feeling nasty and tingly. Oh my gosh. Once I had scarlet fever and the skin peeled off my hands, and so for weeks I couldn't touch ANYTHING at all. It was horrid. I can't touch those knitted blankets at the hospital either. and the thought of biting shoelaces, or just shoelaces against my teeth makes me shudder also. And I think the worst one is my bone phobia. I HATE BONES. If I bruise my tail bone, I literally have a mental breakdown. The thought of a bone breaking, or bending sideways, or ANYTHING grosses me out. Ickkk.

i have a phobia of towels. just seeing them, touching them or smelling them makes me want to die or scream. it makes shower drying more difficult than you can imagine.

I have a fear of fingernail and toenail clippers. I don't know exactly why but when I hear them being used or see them it freaks me out. I always picture in my head that my teeth are being clipped off by them. This is something that I even think of when the clippers are nowhere near me. I just randomly think about it. I can't stand the sound of them and I can't even stand to hear the word "toenail clippers" it makes me crazy. I cringe just thinking about it. It is like the fingernails on a chalkboard kind of feeling, only over and over and over again!!

I have always been afraid of things that are bigger than they are supposed to be. An example would be comic props such as extra large sun glasses, pencils, tv remotes, foam hands. I also get really nervous around large inflatable items that are used for advertisement's sake or statues of people that are larger than life-size. My body tenses up at the mere thought of Mount Rushmore. (I could barely type that last sentence.)

I freak out and sometimes cry whenever I touch something really soft or dry. Things like suede or dry wood or paper just creep me out.

I am scared of electric fans especially in bathrooms where I am on my own. The thought of being shut in a room with one scares me to death especially if they come on automatically.
My one recurring nightmare is that I am desperate for the toilet and I end up in this room with about 20 toilets and massive big fans on the wall behind some, of which are starting to spin. The room is lit with florescent lights and the fans are massive.
Sounds weird but I have to 'get to know' a fan before I can use a bathroom. I do not go to the toilet when I am out if there is an electric fan in there. Especially above my head. Hand dryers also scare.

I am terrified of escalators. Down's not too bad, once i'm over the top of it, and i've only had to sit down once. But up is so bad I have to lean forwards straddling a couple of stairs, shut my eyes and hold on with both hands, counting the whole way up. I don't know where the fear has come from but I plan journeys around the fewest escalators. The big London Underground ones are the worst - they're steep and it's an awfully long way down, i almost want to throw myself down to get it over with.

I have a huge phobia of towels touching my finger nails... which makes it very hard to dry myself after a shower... i even got goosebumps typing this and thinking about it... it sends me through the roof!

I used to get so freaked out by public service ads on TV or radio, especially the ones about saying no to drugs or somebody got killed by a drunk driver or any of those types of ads. It would get so bad that I would either flip the channel as fast as I could or cover my ears and curl up in a ball whenever one would come on. The worst ones were the ones that told a story. The worst part is that they get stuck in my head like a bad song. I have recently started watching some of the PSA's on YouTube to see if I could see them without freaking out, and I am now to the point where I either laugh at them or they have the same effect on me that watching a scary movie has on most people, but there are a couple that I don't know if I could see again because they traumatized me so bad that even to think about them gives me the willies.

My phobia is broken glass. Not the kind when you drop a glass on the floor and it shatters everywhere, but the kind when a stone or something is thrown at a window pane and it shatters the glass and makes it look all splintery. I'm shuddering just thinking about it. I think it might have stemmed from when i threw stones at a window one time and then the window shattered and as i got closer to it, i could hear the glass making this sort of crunching sound before it all fell out in little bits. Ugh, i feel all disgusting now

When I was small I used to have recurring dreams that I was holding an extremely large pencil, bigger than me and my hand, and I would be colouring in a tiny tiny picture. Now if something really big is next to something really tiny, or if I even think about it, I feel really sick. Even typing this is giving me the heebie jeebies!!

i cant abide anything swinging!! if there is someone with a carrier bag with a small item in it then i would avoid them. i cant have those air freshners hanging in cars. i will always check my friends and family with what they are carrying and if i am not happy with this i would offer to carry the bags. this has got so bad i have attended hypnotherepy, but wait i hear you ask does that not involve a pocket watch to swing....? the watches are not used anymore, the hypnotherepy has taken the edge off my phobia but i know its still there in the back of my mind. its got to the stage where it is affecting my work as i have constantly asked my colleagues not to hang anything that swings....!!

i'm always scared at loud sounds. Like motorcycle screeching or a really loud piano, or just people talking, but loud..
it tingles my nerves and this scared feeling just came out of nowhere..it seems weird when i think about it, but i've never been able to shake it off until now.

I have an extreme phobia of ET, the alien guy from the movie ET, directed by Steven Spielberg. ET is the scariest thing I have ever seen. The little guy just freaks me out.

I am scared of patterns: plain black lined patterns. They freak me out, just the very sight of them sends shivers down my spine. The more detailed they are, the more I have to fear!

I am terrified of lava. The way it moves and its deadly potential unnerve me to the core. I have never even seen lava in person but I know that I hate it. I have to close my eyes when I see volcanoes on t.v. Even cartoon lava has me sweating and shaking.

I used to go mad at the sound of a saucepan squeaking against the metal frame that was holding the pan above the gas. Our old one was rusty and everytime i think of the sound now it makes me cringe and i get goosebumps all down my back...
