General animal phobias
![]()
I have a strange phobia about dead animals hung on the wall, like taxidermy or game trophies. I have no idea how or why, but i know that i freeze up and my heart races if i have to go into a room where there is one. If I am forced to get close I become hysterical -- it is NOT a normal fear. I think I have pinpointed it down to the fact that I dont want them to touvh me, so i always have to be seated facing them and i look over my shoulder all the time. I have a few funny "rules" about these animals, too. I dont really like wild animals or dead things, so put them together and I have a phobia. It is really intense and I hate it.

I have Equinophobia ( fear of horses). I had a near death experience, and ever since being within 400 meters makes me totally freak out. Also I have a fear of skiing. Once again a near death experience, I was 100 meters away from the edge of a cliff which had a very long drop to rocks.

i have selachaphobia. [fear of sharks] they make me cry when behind glass or even in pictures. I HATE THEM ever since watching jaws.

I have a morbid fear of gorillas. If I see one ANYWHERE, it triggers a panic attack (I have anxiety) and I feel paralyzed.
The thought of a gorilla (any type, but mostly silverbacks, big males) running towards me, roaring and just barreling towards me... *shudders*... they scare the crap out of me.

Bigfoot
I've been terrified of Bigfoot for as long as I can remember. I'm 27 and can't walk up the stairs to bed with my finacee unless I am first - just in case he is behind me. There is also the fear that he'll grab me through the bannister and that he's in the corner of the bedroom. I spend a long time staring at the corner making sure.
I can't go near the cat flap at night either just in case he grabs me. All curtains must be closed at night because if I ever saw anything moving outside I'd collapse.
Attics are particularly scary since they have water tanks and Bigfoot would likely be behind the tank.
I'd die of a stroke (if I was lucky) if I ever came face to face with a Bigfoot. If I was unlucky I'd simply collapse to the ground and freeze.

I have the BIGGEST fear of Barnacles... Especially when they are attached to the bottom of a boat... i cant even look at them... they give me goosebumps and make me feel dirty and like i need to have a shower... the thought of them growing on me or touching me... ahhhh

I have an extreme phobia of wasps. As soon as i hear a buzzing i freak out, and if a wasp has come near me i am constantly on edge after that, flinching whenever an innocent fly drops in my eyeline or even a speck of dust!! However, i'm not too embarrassed about this phobia as wasps are very aggressive in nature and i KNOW that they take great delight in stinging people (unlike bees who are just fluffy and cute)

Daddy Long Legs and Spiders. If I see one in my house, i can't relax until my husband kills and/or removes it. I have to actually see him do it to believe it is gone. I stay as far away as I possibly can while being sure to see that it is gone. After 30 years of marriage, he seems to be getting tired of rescuing me. help, I need a new "Knight In Shining Armour."

I. Hate. Slugs. I'm terrified of them. Unfortunately, they like to live in my back yard and stick to the side of my house. The sight of them makes me cringe.

I have had a phobia of crickets for years. I do remember a time when I wasn't afraid of them when I was very young, but I don't know when or why I became afraid of them. However, I'm completely fine with grasshoppers; they're cute. Go figure.

when I was younger, I stepped on a slug while running into my Aunts house. It was on the sidewalk, and no, i had no shoes on. I remember how hard it was to get that icky stuff off my foot! its really, really hard to do. So, Ive always had a thing about slugs, I dont want to see them, dont want them near me, they make me feel icky all over. I can think about them, it makes me feel that way. I have no other words to describe this feeling, but "icky".

I have an unnatural fear of small spiders. I think the large tarantula ones are interesting and i even want to own one someday but the small ones scare me badly. If i see anything (a moth, spider, ect.) creeping down my wall, i jump out of my bed (which is a loftbed making it dangerous) and run to the opposite corner of my room, squeling. Once a spider was hanging on a peice of it's silk from the ceiling in my mother's bathroom, i didn't go in there for 2 months.

The oldest dream I can remember was about being chased by an elephant. I was always afraid of elephants. Once when I was 7 years old I had a temper tantrum and screamed out "Elephant! ELEPHANT!!" because it was the worst word I knew.

I am absolutely terrified of sharks, ever since I dared to watch Jaws.
One time my dad dragged me into the sea, and I stood on something slippery and rubbery. I looked down and it was a big shark shaped toy, that had been dropped into the deeper parts of the sea. I honestly think I would have sh*t myself if my dad hadnt of dragged me out.
To this very day, I havent set foot in water above my chest.

i am terrified of bugs. all bugs. especially really little ones. whenever there is a bug around me i will flee to the farthest possible corner and even after it has been killed i will twitch and ring my hands in fear. god forbid it should be actually be crawling on me. no one can concole me by saying "they are so much smaller than you..." or something like that because i think that the smaller they are the more easily they can crawl into an oriface and lay eggs... *twitch*shudder*twitch*

I'm insanely afraid of cats of all kinds and all sizes. Not just the animal, but also the sounds or pictures of cats. I can't watch any commerical or e-mail with cats on; if I see or hear a cat, I would move quick and escape. If I can't walk away fast enough, I would get a panic attack.
When I was a child, my dad used to have a cat which he tried to let go but came back home. Eventually, he drowned it, not in front of me, but I was told about this later (or few years later). Ever since, the scene was imprinted in my mind and subconciously, I was deeply afraid of cats.
